I studied at Trinity College Dublin and trained in psychiatry from 1994 at St. Patrick’s Hospital, Dublin under Professor Anthony Clare, and in East London in the boroughs of Hackney and Newham. I have trained and experience in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in the fields of general adult psychiatry, psychiatric intensive care and prison psychiatry, liaison and neuropsychiatry (mental health and physical health), and addictions psychiatry.
I have previously been a full time substantive psychiatrist from 2006 to 2017 for East London NHS Foundation Trust.
For my medico-legal experience I have undertaken multiple visits to clients in their homes, in prison and at solicitors offices. I prepare an average of 120 reports per year in civil, criminal and family proceedings including housing, asylum and occupational health proceedings. I have appeared in crown courts and magistrates’ courts including the Old Bailey. I specialise in traumatic brain injury, personal injury, personality disorders, PTSD, depression, bipolar affective disorder, ADHD and chronic pain.
